As a non-profit organization, Arrowhead depends on volunteers to help carry out its mission to preserve and inform the public about the life and work of Herman Melville.

Areas where volunteers are needed include:

  • House tour guides
  • Arrowhead Shop assistants
  • Collections and exhibits assistants/researchers
  • Grounds care
  • Gardening
  • Maintenance
  • Office help
  • Special events help

Volunteers may contribute as few or as many hours as are convenient for their schedules.

Volunteers get the satisfaction of knowing they are making a substantial and valuable contribution to preserving a vital piece of American history and a Registered National Historic Landmark. Other benefits of being an Arrowhead volunteer include:

  • A 20% discount in the Arrowhead Shop
  • Free admission to Arrowhead for your immediate family
  • Volunteer social events
  • An ID card that admits you free or at reduced admission to many area attractions.
